12-12-12
is a very special day. It marks the last triple number sequence of the
century and it's considered a lucky day. It is also the day Chicago paid
tribute to Steve Starr, a very well-known Chicago society photographer
and my dear friend. He passed away on 11-12-12, one month before the
event.
The event was held at the Murphy Auditorium in downtown Chicago and I
had an honor to be the official photographer.
It was a sell out event with more than 300 guests.
"The
Face of News" events featured over 200 framed images of journalists,
broadcasters, reporters, columnists and publishers from New York,
Hollywood, Miami Beach, Chicago, Russia, New Zealand and Thailand.
The images include notables such as Tom Brokaw and Raquel Welch, as well
as local celebrities like Bill Zwecker and Anna Davlantes, among
others. Steve Starr photographed people for years at every type of event
and was always sporting a big smile, wearing a suite sans tie, making
everyone feel like a celebrity.
MC by Candace Jordan and Bill Zwecker
Steve's sisters Adrienne Igebrigtsen and Bobbie Weiss
Fashion
designer Mark Roscoe impressed the crowd with his unique "Newspaper
Couture Collection". All outfits were made entirely out of recycle paper
!!!
Jeff Conway from 24/7, NBC 5 reported the event news on his blog.
