Chicago Red Dress Party

The Red Dress Party is a national event dedicated to creating awareness and visibility for the HIV/AIDS movement and raising funds for organizations that provide vital community services.
Dress for the fight, end AIDS

In the early 1990’s two gentlemen were dating when they both contracted HIV/AIDS. To show their love and dedication they vowed when one of them passed away the other would attend their funeral adorned in a red dress. From this promise the concept of the Red Dress Party began. Currently there are Red Dress Parties all over the United States from Seattle, Washington to Chicago, IL.

Kyler Powell
Board President/Executive Producer
Kyler Powell found his voice as an activist in the civil rights movement when, in joining the national outcry against the passage of California’s Proposition 8, he produced the largest LGBT rally in Washington State’s history. Attracting over 10,000 people, the march captured the energy of the young and old focusing it anew into action against injustice and inequality.
